Career: Born on July 29 of the year 1962, Scott Rechsteiner was trained by The Sheik and made his professional debut in 1986 for World Wrestling Association where he eventually won the World and Tag Team title. In 1988, Scott joined the Continental Wrestling Association where he also won Tag Team Gold with different partners.

Scott debuted in WCW at Starrcade 1988 where his brother Rick won the NWA World Television belt. The Steiner Brothers competed regularly as a team after Rick lost the belt. The Steiners were Tag Team Champions multiple times during their WCW stint. Scott even won the WCW Television title in September of 1992. However, the brothers left the company in November 1992 after a low contract offer from WCW.

On December 21 of that same year, Scott and Rick debuted in the WWF. They competed as a team and won gold once again. They left the World Wrestling Federation in the middle of 1994. In 1995, Scott and his brother competed in ECW for 3 months and then returned to WCW in 1996.

Scott became a member of the NWO at Superbrawl VIII after attacking his brother Rick during their title defense against The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall). Scott won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in November of 2000 after defeating Booker T. Scott Steiner lost the belt to Booker T during the final Nitro episode (WWF had purchased WCW).

In 2001 and 2002, Steiner wrestled for World Wrestling All-Stars and won the WWA Championship. He vacated the belt when he signed with the WWE in November 2002. Steiner competed for the World Championship but wasn't able to defeat HHH for the belt. He also teamed with Test before being released in 2004.

Steiner debuted in TNA in March 2006. After his short term contract ended, he came back with the company in February 2007. Scott Steiner is currently part of the Main Event Mafia with Kurt Angle, Booker T, Sting and Kevin Nash.

Hasbro WWF action figures: Yokozuna

Name: Yokozuna

Series: 8

Year: 1994

Approximate market price: $5 to $40

Accessories: None

Special move: Sumo smash

Description: Black and red tight

Career: Born in October 1966, Rodney Anoa'i portrayed the well-known Yokozuna character in Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation. Contrary to what his time in the WWF might suggest, Anoa'i wasn't Japanese and never competed as a sumo wrestler. He was of Samoan origins and comes from a family of professional wrestlers. His uncles Afa and Sika (the Wild Samoans) trained him.

Between 1984 and 1992, he wrestled in Japan, Mexico and the United States (for the AWA).

In October 1992, Yokozuna appeared for the first time in the WWF. He was managed by Mr. Fuji. He won the 1993 Royal Rumble to get a WWF title shot at Wrestlemania IX against Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Yokozuna defeated Hart and won his first WWF championship after Fuji's interference. After the match, a confrontation with Hulk Hogan led to a match that Yokozuna lost. His championship reign is the second shortest in the company's history. Yokozuna took the title back from Hogan at the 1993 King of the Ring event.

After feuds with Lex Luger and The Undertaker, Yokozuna lost his championship to Bret Hart at Wrestlemania X.

At Wrestlemania XI, he was Owen Hart's secret partner. They defeated The Smoking Gunns to win the WWF tag team championship.

He was released in 1998 after he didn't pass a New York State Athletic Commission physical test.

On October 23, 2000, Anoa'i died in his Liverpool hotel room.

Name: Honky Tonk Man

Series: 5

Year: 1988

Approximate market price: $5 to $20

Accessories: Guitar

Description: Red and blue costume. Red scarf.

Career: Born in January 1953, Roy Wayne Farris is the cousin of WWE Hall of Famer and Raw commentator Jerry "The King" Lawler. In 1978, Farris' career began in Memphis Wrestling. He arrived in the World Wrestling Federation in 1986 where he portrayed an Elvis impersonator. On June 2, 1987 he won the WWF intercontinental championship from Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. He lost that belt to the Ultimate Warrior at the first ever Summerslam event in a match that lasted only 29 seconds. Honky Tonk Man is still the longest reigning intercontinental champion in history (1 year, 2 months and 27 days or 64 weeks according to Santino Marella's Honk-a-meter).
In 1989 and 1990, Honky Tonk Man formed a team named Rhythm and Blues with Greg Valentine.

He briefly worked for WCW in 1994 before a conflict led to Eric Bischoff firing him.

Honky made a comeback to the WWF in 1997 as a Raw commentator. He was also the manager of Rockabilly (Billy Gunn). He was also a part of the Royal Rumble in 1998 and 2001.

For the last several years, Honky has been busy wrestling for American and Canadian independant wrestling companies.

WWE's current intercontinental champion, Santino Marella, is now trying to beat Honky's record of 64 weeks as champion. Marella keeps track of his own progress everyweek on Raw with the Honk-a-meter. Fans can vote for Honky, Goldust or Rowdy Roddy Piper to face Santino at Cyber Sunday for the WWE intercontinental championship.

Name: Hulk Hogan

Series: 1

Year: 1984

Approximate market price: $5 to $30

Accessories: Championship belt

Description: Yellow boots and trunks, red kneepads, white headband & wristbands, blond hair & mustache.

Career: Born Terry Gene Bollea in 1953, Hogan had his first match on August 10, 1977 with Brian Blair. Two years later, he became a champion for the time when he won the NWA Southeast Heavyweight Championship.

After an initial stint in the World Wrestling Federation from 1979 to 1980 and the filming of the movie Rocky III, Hogan wrestled in the American Wrestling Association (AWA) from 1981 to 1983 and New Japan Pro Wrestling from 1980 to 1983.

Eventually, Hulk Hogan made his way back to the WWF after Vincent K. McMahon purchased the company from his father. On December 27 of 1983, Hogan made his return in St. Louis. Less than a month later, in New York's Madison Square Garden, he won the WWF Championship from The Iron Sheik. Hulkamania was born.

At Wrestlemania III, Hogan defeated Andre the Giant in a championship match during which he bodyslammed the massive giant. However, Andre eventually stopped Hogan's reign at 4 years and 13 days when he won the belt after making a deal with "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase.

Hogan other title win came against "Macho Man" Randy Savage at Wrestlemania V, Sgt. Slaughter at Wrestlemania VII, The Undertaker at This Tuesday in Texas and Yokozuna at Wrestlemania IX. His WWF run ended in the summer of 93. In 1994, Hogan admitted in court that he used steroids for 12 years but never accused Vince McMahon of distribution.

Hogan signed a contract with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in June 1994 and won the World Championship against Ric Flair at Bash at the Beach in his first match. He lost the belt at Halloween Havoc in 1995 (to The Giant aka The Big Show). In 1996, Hogan formed the NWO (New World Order) with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash at Bash at the Beach. Now known as Hollywood Hogan, he enjoyed several years of success with the highly popular NWO. In July 1998, the undefeated sensation Bill Goldberg defeated Hogan for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Hogan returned to the WWF at the No Way Out pay-per-view in 2002 with NWO friend Nash and Hall. He won the WWF Championship for the sixth time from Triple H at Backlash and his first Tag Team Championship (with Edge) from Billy & Chuck on Smackdown (July 4, 2002). Hogan defeated Vince McMahon at Wrestlemania XIX. After a run as the masked Mr. America, Hogan quit the company during the summer of 2003.

In 2005, Sylvester Stallone inducted Hogan into the WWE Hall of Fame and saved Eugene from a Muhammad Hassan and Daivari attack at Wrestlemania 21. At Summerslam, Hogan defeated Shawn Michaels. The following year, again at Summerslam, he defeated Randy Orton.

Finally, on the 15th anniversary of Raw, Hogan made an appearance during which he had a short fight with The Great Khali to help Hornswoggle.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts Hasbro action figure

Name: Jake "The Snake" Roberts.

Series: 1

Year: 1990

Approximate market price: $5 to $20

Accessories: Comes with his snake Damien

Special move: Python Punch

Description: Green pants with brown boots. Damien is also brown with some dark brown/black spots.

Career: Born Aurelian Smith Jr. in Texas, Jake Roberts' father also was a wrestler. His wrestling career began in 1974 and he spent some time in Mid South Wrestling, Georgia Championship Wrestling, National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and World Wide Championship Wrestling. Jake achieved worldwide fame mainly because of the time he spend in the World Wrestling federation from 1986 to 1982 and from 1996 to 1997. Jake had an immense amount of charisma and used ring psychology almost perfectly. As a result, fans were glued to the screen whenever he would wrestle fellow WWF superstars "Ravishing" Rick Rude, Andre the Giant, Earthquake, The Undertaker, Rick Martel, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, etc.

During his second stint in the WWF, Roberts was part of the birth of a phenomenon. Indeed, in the 1996 King of the Ring finals, Steve Austin defeated Jake and gave his famous Austin 3:16 speech that started the "Stone Cold" Steve Austin era.

After 1997, Jake Roberts wasn't seen often in mainstream wrestling federations. In December 2007, Roberts entered a rehab program paid by World Wrestling Entertainment. He was apparently doing well until an Ohio wrestling show on September 12, 2008 where Jake didn't seem sober and wasn't able to work his scheduled match. However, rumors say that Jake may have been drugged by someone.

Following the end of the LJN figures, WWF action figures made a comeback in 1990 thanks to toymaker Hasbro. A big change was in stores for WWF fans and action figures collectors. LJN action figures

Let's start this right with a general description of the LJN era of WWF action figures. Don't worry, we'll soon get to the individual superstar figures.

From 1984 to 1989, LJN gave us a toyline that we will never forget. These popular rubber toys were 8'' tall and some even came with accessories. The LJN figures were very flexible (the same can't be said for a few of the "real life" superstars but I digress). Each package included the wrestler's bio and a poster.

Surprisingly, the attention to detail was pretty good. Body types and wrestling gear were well reproduced. So be assured that Hulk Hogan's mustache and Kamala's belly moon are in place for our enjoyment. Unfortunately, the paint on the figures was easily damaged. That could probably be considered a problem for wrestling action figures... For that reason, figures in mint condition are rare and cost more money.

Here is the breakdown of which superstar was in which Series:
1) Hulk Hogan, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Andre the Giant, Hillbilly Jim, Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, Big John Studd, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka and Junkyard Dog.

2) King Kong Bundy, Andre the Giant, "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Brutus Beefcake and George "The Animal" Steele.

3) "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Jimmy Hart, Davey Boy Smith, Captain Lou Albano, Magnificent Muraco, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Dynamite Kid, "Classy" Freddy Blassie, Bruno Sammartino, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Corporal Kirchner, "Mean" Gene Okerlund, Mr. Fuji, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Tito Santana, S.D. Jones and Terry Funk.

4) Bret "The Hitman" Hart, Cowboy Bob Orton, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, "Adorable" Adrian Adonis, Elizabeth, King Harley Race, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Billy Jack Haynes, Johnny V, Hercules Hernandez, B. Brian Blair, Jumping Jim Brunzell, Ken Patera, Ted Arcidi, Vince McMahon, Kamala, Outback Jack and Koko B. Ware.

5) Hulk Hogan, Bam Bam Bigelow, Slick, Tito Santana, Ted Dibiase, Ax, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, One Man Gang, Rick Martel, Referee and Honky Tonk Man.

6) Bret "The Hitman" Hart, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Demolition Ax, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, Hulk Hogan, Honky Tonk Man, Bam Bam Bigelow, Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Big John Studd, Haku, Warlord, Andre the Giant, Big Boss Man, Miss Elizabeth, Ted Dibiase, Rick Rude and Ultimate Warrior.

A few tag team sets were also available:
Hart Foundation, Strike Force, The Killer Bees, British Bulldogs, Brutus Beefcake & Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Hulk Hogan & Hillbilly Jim and Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff.

The action happened in a big "Sling 'Em - Fling 'Em" ring. You could also use a cage for your hot feuds.

That sums it up for the LJN WWF action figures. Before we start the profiles of each figure one by one, we will do a similar general post about the Hasbro WWF action figures.
