Career: Born in January 1953, Roy Wayne Farris is the cousin of WWE Hall of Famer and Raw commentator Jerry "The King" Lawler. In 1978, Farris' career began in Memphis Wrestling. He arrived in the World Wrestling Federation in 1986 where he portrayed an Elvis impersonator. On June 2, 1987 he won the WWF intercontinental championship from Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. He lost that belt to the Ultimate Warrior at the first ever Summerslam event in a match that lasted only 29 seconds. Honky Tonk Man is still the longest reigning intercontinental champion in history (1 year, 2 months and 27 days or 64 weeks according to Santino Marella's Honk-a-meter).
In 1989 and 1990, Honky Tonk Man formed a team named Rhythm and Blues with Greg Valentine.

He briefly worked for WCW in 1994 before a conflict led to Eric Bischoff firing him.

Honky made a comeback to the WWF in 1997 as a Raw commentator. He was also the manager of Rockabilly (Billy Gunn). He was also a part of the Royal Rumble in 1998 and 2001.

For the last several years, Honky has been busy wrestling for American and Canadian independant wrestling companies.

WWE's current intercontinental champion, Santino Marella, is now trying to beat Honky's record of 64 weeks as champion. Marella keeps track of his own progress everyweek on Raw with the Honk-a-meter. Fans can vote for Honky, Goldust or Rowdy Roddy Piper to face Santino at Cyber Sunday for the WWE intercontinental championship.
